<p>Motor starters are switches specially designed for starting motors.  These switches are designed to withstand the larger loads required by motors.  There are basically two types of motor starters, manual starters and magnetic starters.</p>
<p>A motor starter has four basic funtions:  1) isolating  the load from the mains 2) protection against short circuits 3) protection against overloads 4) control (start-stop)</p>
